Sadly but unsurprisingly we don’t win every contract we pitch for. But we are always happy to be in a competitive situation. Some agencies will not provide creative solutions either because they fear plagiarism or because they believe that a tentative proposal is bound by its nature to be lacking in proper and deep understanding. We are sympathetic to both those rationals but also recognise the old truth about “Putting your money where your mouth is”. Our main fear, actually, is that if we design from the outside in, the client will fall prey to believing the visual has to be how the finished thing will be. A visual is just that, a discussion point; if it was on the proverbial fag packet this wouldn’t be a danger, but the nature of a web visual can be too tempting for some. We lost this one, but none the less we are pleased with and proud of our proposal.
